Sheriff Jeff Dirkse was born in Southern California and raised in Denair.  He graduated from Turlock High School in 1990 and the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY, in 1994, with a Bachelor’s of Science degree.  He subsequently served in the US Army as an Infantry Platoon Leader, Ranger Platoon Leader, Infantry Company Commander and most recently was a Watch Officer at Special Operations Command, Europe.
 
Sheriff Dirkse began his career in Law Enforcement in 2007 with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department.  He served on Patrol and as a detective in STING (Special Team Investigating Narcotics and Gangs) and Rural Crime.  He promoted to Sergeant in 2013 and served on Patrol and in Internal Affairs.  In 2015 he promoted to Lieutenant and was appointed as the Chief of Patterson Police Services.  He manages the Explorer program and was a founding member of the Sheriff Department’s Mobile Field Force, which assists other agencies during disasters and search and rescue missions.
 
Jeff Dirkse was sworn into the office as Sheriff-Coroner on January 7, 2019.

Micky was born and raised in Modesto and graduated from Johansen High School in 1995. He joined the United States Air Force as a Security Policeman and had assignments at Grand Forks AFB, North Dakota and FE Warren AFB, Wyoming. During this time, he was deployed to Saudi Arabia on a temporary duty assignment in support of Operation Southern Watch. Micky was honorably discharged in November 1999 and returned to Modesto.

Micky was sworn in as a Deputy Sheriff-Coroner in 2001 and assigned to patrol. Over the course of his law enforcement career he’s had various assignments including patrol in the contract city of Patterson, K-9 handler, Field Training Officer, Bailiff, Hostage Negotiation Team (HNT), and Peer Support.

In August 2015 Micky was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and assigned to the main office on patrol. As a sergeant he held various assignments such as patrol supervisor in the city of Patterson, K-9 unit supervisor, HNT supervisor, Detective/Administrative Sergeant in the city of Patterson. In the summer of 2018, he was named as the Acting Police Chief in the city of Patterson following the election of Sheriff Dirkse. Micky transferred back to the main Sheriff’s Office in early 2019 and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in June.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from California Coast University. In his off time he enjoys Star Wars movies/shows (not the prequels), cheering on the Boston Red Sox, and spending time with family and friends.
