Virtual “Ride-Along” via Twitter with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department

ModestoThe Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department will host its first-ever “virtual ride-along” via Twitter on Saturday August 25, 2012 from 6:00 PM to 2:00 AM.

Sheriff Adam Christianson wants to give the public a better understanding of what a deputy sheriff does during their shift. “By doing a virtual ride-along it makes our office more accessible to the residents of Stanislaus County and provides an inside view of the deputies who serve our community” said Sheriff Christianson.

Members of the media relations unit will follow two deputies on Saturday night and give followers a snapshot of the deputies’ shift and the types of calls they respond to. Media relations unit members will tweet messages, pictures and video of the deputies throughout the evening on emergency calls and law enforcement activity.

The goal of the virtual ride-along is to extend our outreach on social media sites to residents of Stanislaus County to help provide instant information directly from the Sheriff’s Department.

The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department Twitter profile currently has over 2,600 users following and the department’s Facebook page currently has over 600 “likes”.  If you would like to join us please follow us at twitter.com/stansheriff and “like” us at facebook.com/stansheriff.
