City of Patterson

Chief of Police: Chief Casey Hill

In 1998 the City of Patterson Police Department was consolidated into the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department resulting in the formation of Patterson Police Services of the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department.

Currently, Patterson Police Services provides the City of Patterson, population 26,000, with a wide range of municipal law enforcement services including, but not limited to; Administration, Patrol, Traffic Enforcement, Investigations, Records Management, Training, Recruitment, Specialized Enforcement Teams, and Citizen Volunteer Programs. The Department fields four patrol deputies during the peak hours of the day which is augmented by a four person street crimes unit which focuses on proactive approaches to crime reduction and enforcement efforts.

The Patterson City Council, through its City Manager, provides local direction and control of the Department, which allows the City to enjoy the benefits and resources of the Sheriffs Department while at the same time allowing the City to retain, in effect, its local law enforcement autonomy.
