Special Victims Unit
The Special Victims Unit (SVU) is a highly specialized investigative Detective Unit focusing on sensitive or vulnerable victims. SVU Detectives have the responsibility of investigating the following:
- Spousal Abuse / Domestic Violence Cases

Child neglect cases

Child abuse cases

Child molest cases
- Missing persons (juveniles and adults) cases

Elder abuse cases

Adult sex crimes

Internet Crimes Against Children

Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) cases

Human Exploitation & Trafficking (H.E.A.T)

Sex & Arson Registrants
Beyond investigations, the SVU Detectives also maintain the responsibility of:

Managing sex registrants filed under §290.01 of the California Penal Code
- Release information of registered sex offender as prescribed by law (maps around schools, flyers, etc.)
