In July of 1998, the City of Waterford entered into an agreement with the County of Stanislaus to provide law enforcement services for the City of Waterford. Waterford Police Department became Waterford Police Services.
Waterford Police Services has committed itself to the highest standards of professional excellence to fulfill its goals of reducing crime and making the City of Waterford a safer place to work, live and play. Waterford Police Services is dedicated to providing the highest level of public service with a commitment to Community Engagement with a continued partnership with the citizens of the community.
Both full-time and extra-help employees of the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department staff Waterford Police Services. Of the eleven positions assigned to the City of Waterford, one sergeant, seven Deputy Sheriffs, and two administrative positions are fully funded by the City. The Lieutenant, who serves as the Police Chief, is funded 50% by the City.
A wide array of services is also provided by specialized units operating from the Sheriff's Operations Center on Hackett Road. in Modesto. These services include the investigation of felony assaults, crimes against children, fraud, narcotics, gang and street crimes.
